Our remote deposition services connect attorneys, witnesses and reporters from anywhere in the country. A dedicated technician hosts each session, so you can focus on your questions instead of the software.
Video deposition · Secure room
01 Overview
Remote testimony saves travel time and keeps schedules moving. However, a dropped call or a lost exhibit can derail a session fast. That is why every remote deposition we host has a technician watching the connection.
Participants can join from an office, a home or one of our conference rooms. Meanwhile, the court reporter captures the record exactly as they would in person.
Invites and testing
We send join links, then test each participant’s camera, microphone and connection.
Oath and introductions
The reporter confirms identities and swears in the witness before testimony begins.
Testimony and exhibits
Exhibits appear on screen while the technician manages breakout rooms and any dropped calls.
Transcript and video
Finally, you receive the certified transcript, exhibits and recording in one secure download.
What you need
Remote sessions work best when everyone knows their part. Here is the split we use on every booking.
| Item | Participants provide | American Apex provides |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment | A computer with a camera, a microphone and a stable connection. | A secure video room, so nobody needs to install special software. |
| Testing | About ten minutes for a quick test before the day. | A technician who runs the test, then fixes any problem. |
| Exhibits | Files sent before the session, ideally numbered. | Screen sharing and marking, plus an exhibit index afterward. |
| Record | A quiet room without other people present. | A licensed reporter, then the certified transcript. |
What is included
Every session includes the tools below. Then you can add realtime text or video recording as needed.
Secure virtual rooms
Password-protected rooms and waiting areas keep the session private from start to finish.
Live tech support
A technician admits participants, manages breakout rooms and fixes problems before they interrupt testimony.
Electronic exhibits
Share, mark and stamp exhibits on screen, so everyone sees the same page at the same time.
Private breakout rooms
Counsel can step into a private room with a client and return without leaving the platform.
Realtime transcript
Read the testimony live in your browser, then highlight key answers for later.
Recorded video
Capture the session as video, synced to the transcript and ready for trial.
Witness tips
Many witnesses have never testified on camera. So we share a short guide before the session, and our technician stays on hand while they join.
Look at the camera, not the screen
Keep notes and phones off the desk
Close other programs first
Ask for a break whenever needed
FAQ
Remote sessions raise a few practical questions. Here are the answers we give most often.
Do the federal rules allow remote depositions?
Yes. Federal Rule 30(b)(4) allows remote depositions when the parties agree or the court orders it. State rules vary, so check the local requirements too.
How does the witness take the oath remotely?
The court reporter administers the oath over video. Before that, the reporter confirms the witness’s identity, following the rules of the state.
What equipment does each participant need?
A computer with a camera, a microphone and a stable internet connection is enough. Our technician will also test the setup with each participant beforehand.
