Students gathered around a laptop with classroom CART

Classroom CART that keeps every student in the lesson

Classroom CART gives students who are deaf or hard of hearing a live transcript of every lecture, lab and discussion. Our captioners join in person or online, so learning never depends on guesswork.

By role

Classroom CART for everyone involved

Live captions change the class for students, instructors and the office that arranges access. Here is what each of them can expect.

Read every word at your own pace

Students follow live text on a laptop or tablet while the lecture runs. Then they can scroll back, so a fast lecture never leaves them behind.

Teach the way you always do

Instructors simply share slides and reading lists before class. After that, the captioner adapts to their pace and vocabulary.

One partner for every request

Disability services offices send the schedule once, before the term starts. We then confirm captioners for each course and keep the office informed when classes change.

What is included

What classroom CART includes

Every classroom is different. Still, these features stay the same in every course we support.

Text on a student device

Students read captions on their own laptop or tablet, so size and color stay comfortable.

Course preparation

Captioners review slides and reading lists before class to learn key terms.

Discussion capture

We also caption classmates’ questions and group discussions, not just the instructor.

Post-class transcripts

Edited transcripts help students review lectures before exams.

Flexible scheduling

Sessions follow the academic calendar, so labs, office hours and exam reviews get covered too.

Familiar captioners

Where possible, the same captioner covers a course all term, which builds familiarity.

Captioners learn names, terms and room layouts while students get used to the text.

During term

Caption every class
